I heartily concur with Ross Gittins in his article stop-kidding-2024-tax-cut-will-be-economically-irresponsible.
We do have a large debt and there needs to be budget repair. It doesn't merely go away if you have good economic growth. Indeed budget repair can help in boosting economic growth as Keynes said way back in 1936. It is in good times when you adopt austerity.
