Sexual Assualt and Sexual Harassment

Ever since Harvey Weinstein was outed on his disgraceful behaviour we seem to get allegations of both sexual assault and sexual harassment every day.

Firstly let us get some meat onto these terms. Sexual assault is a crime and should always be reported so the perpetrator receives the punishment that he ( and it is almost always a he) deserves. The worst kind of sexual assault is rape.

Sexual harassment is a form of behaviour where the perpetrator is wanting sex with another where that person is in a position of power over the person they are wanting sex with.  It is thus very hard to do anything by the alleged victim. They could lose their job. There are few witnesses etc. Needless to say the culture at this Organisation is poor  to say the least as is the leadersip.

All this is completely different to the behaviour of the womaniser/ladies man, usually adulterer. They are usually smooth talkers, charmers who women willingly have sex with. ( See Carly Simon's autobiography about Warren Beatty).

All this makes it very hard for secular people who believe anybody should be able to have sex with whomever they want. The trouble here is when does a woman say yes and no. Is no yes and vica versa. Age becomes problematic as well.

We also get ridiculous allegations. When former President Bush the elder at 93 and in a wheelchair pushed by his wife has allegations of sexual harassment made about him you know things are getting out of hand.

To my mind all this is the result of a society where people have no standards to live to. If sex outside of marriage was still taboo most of these allegations would not occur. Yes there still would be allegations as we are all sinful people but the number would be much much less.

Unfortunately you simply cannot go back in time however and this is very ironic the values an Organisation must hold to to counter such behaviour is to adopt values whilst not being 'old fashioned' sail close to that wind.
