I am staggered at the reaction to a Jewish Rabbi on the issue of Repentance.
As I understand it he merely said a paedophile who repents and does it no more should be forgiven.
He didn't say they shouldn't be tried for their crime.
When asked by Peter how many times a person should forgive some-one Jesus told him 77 times that is each time they repent. ( Repenting means a change in their life.)
You cannot forgive someone who does not repent because they do not believe they have done anything wrong.
What provoked the savage reaction to the Rabbi's comments was that you cannot forgive such crimes no matter whether the perpetrator repents or not.
I am glad God is not like this otherwise he would not forgive anyone!
