Russia will meet Ukraine in 'peace talks' soon. Zelensky will be there but Putin is doubtful. Is he worried about losing his control?
It will be a waste of time. Putin has no interest in peace talks. As long as he gives the pretense of wanting peace and the US envoy and trump repeat his talking points he has no need. the US is not giving Ukraine more resources and thus is weakened. Russia gradually gains more territory. Even though the russian economy is not looking good there is little understanding of this.
to go back to the start Biden was ultra-timid. He ensured both that Ukraine would not lose BUT they could not win. Putin bluffed him and it worked. Trump is simply pig ignorant and thinks people are after both Putin and him.
There is only one way to get peace. Give Ukraine everything they want and get Russia to understand they will never win. What worries people about this strategy is the future of Putin and thus Russia.
The West cannot allow Russia to win this war. the West would lose influence and respect and it would allow authoritarians all around the world to do anything and get away with it.
