Ohio shows how popular abortion is in the USA

Yesterday Ohio voted in a special election to reject a measure that would have meant to change the state's constitution you would need not 50% as it previously was but 60%.. Why would republicans hold a special election in august which they previously said would be unfair and not on you ask. Tto ensure when people in Ohio vote to ensure abortions in november the vote would have to be over 60% to pass. Thus this special election was really about abortion rights.

Republicans have other ways it appears to prevent such votes.

I find it strange republicans cannot have a sane abortion strategy. Most abortions are usually about 'lifestyle' not the women's health but the legislation is overwhelming. It texas for example women are suing the state as their inability to have abortions could have had deathly consequences on them or the other babies they were carrying. Thus the legislation is not stopping death but exacerbating it. Similarly there are few exceptions for incest or rape or even minors. If you can believe when a 10 year old who had to go interest to have an abortion prosecutors went after the medical specialists who assisted her.

Republicans who gerrymander districts to even get supermajorities seemingly want to reject democracy or gaming the system.  I wonder if any of them ever cogitate to understand their abortion policy is poor and only a few significant changes ,as I have outlined,  could help overcome the voters  thinking on abortion.

Don't they realise abortion was one of the reasons ,Trump was the other, why Biden did not get a shellacking in the mid-terms?
