In the test at the MCG the third umpire ruled the Indian opener out despite 'snicko' showing no noise at all. He claims he saw the edge. In other words 'snicko' was not working.
A short time later a batsman was given out because 'snicko' showed a noise when the ball went past the bat. In other words he believed 'snicko' was working again BUT why di he believe that? Nothing was done to show anything was right or wrong.
Thus the Third umpire made contradictory calls on what 'snicko' showed. It was either working or it was not.
We still do not know why it did not work in the first instance but did in the second. It merely made the Trird umpire look foolish.
And do not get me started on ball tracking which has been clearly wrong on many occasions!
