The RBA and other things
RBA
The RBA increased interest rates. I only thought the question was would it be 25 or 50 points. I cannot believe 4 people voted to keep rates on hold. The trimmed mean is well above the target rate. It has to come down. Our economic speed limit is much lower these days so GDP has to slow. Now i would prefer the SGC temoraliy be increased rather than increase interest rates as it hit immediately and is much more equitable but that aint possible.
Budget
We have been told a few things but it is clear spending has to be cut and some taxes need to rise and others cut. The NDIS needs to get back to basics until we can afford it. The government also needs to figure out how it can facilitate productivity.
Petrol
Yeah I talked about this on monday but it is stil lthe case we have plenty of supply. what is the problem is excessive demand in otherwise panic buying. It is the cow cockies and miners who are at fault. They admit they are installing more petrol/diesel but deny panic buying. The figures say otherwise.
Queensland
up there you are not allowed to say rivers to the sea or globalise the intifada. This is a disgrace. If this occurs in NSW I am changing the name of this blog!
Matildas
They are in the final of the Asian cup and are playing Japan. I doubt they will win ( but I hope they do) but can we just admit female football simply lacks the skill we observe in real football. the ball control, the change of direction, the magic ball through the defence etc is simply not there.
Intifada
Let us get one thing straight. The bonda massacre was horrific and done by evil people. However it was done by people who supported and were inspired by ISIS. ISIA has no sympathy whatsoever for Palestinians. They are either christians or shia muslims. They hate both. People who assert chants about the intifada are associated with the bondi massacre are peddling either ignorance of the highest order or lies to conflate the massacre with the what is occurring in Gaza and the West Bank.
Either way it is evil.

no-one can trust Trump
Donald Trump launched an illegal war on Iran ( Gerard Henderson please note). He was warned about the strait of homuz but either ignored, did not understand or forgot it because of his cognitive decline.
The chickens have come back to roost. He needs help because Iran can stop tankers leaving the strait of hormuz. He threatens his nato allies if they do not help. The German chancellor was right on two fronts. This is his war and NATO is a DEFENSIVE treaty. It cannot be invoked for an offensive action. Trump is not impressed with us either. He wants Australia to help him out as well.
Let us just have a think how Trump treats allies. He imposed illegal tariffs on them, He said he wanted to take Greenland, He is supporting neo-nazi parties in Europe as well as authoritarians in hungary and slovakia, he gets rid of sanctions on russia and of course he clearly favours russia in their invasion of ukraine. Just remember the existential threat to europe is russia not iran and Trump is making that worse not better.
Thus europe cannot depend on the USA whilst trump is in office and nor can we. Mark Beeson writes on this related matter.
Trump is a transactional man. He will do something for you if you do something for him. Treaties mean nothing to him nor do allies. An intelligent man would realise all his mistakes thus far and change.Alas Trump is not an intelligent man and worse is in patent cognitive decline.
Russia and Putin are the big winners from this debacle and the world is not a safer place.
Just for Trump.
Excursion and Incursion. Trump is clearly confused about both. This shows how stupid he is and he cognitive decline.
I should also add another example of Trump's lying. He claimed an ex-president agreed with is action. Only problem all living ex-presidents have denied talking to him.

OZ stuff
It aint city slickers that are panicking
I have to admit I thought it were us city slickers buying up gerry cans and filling them with petrol that was causing demand for petrol to be astronomical. It aint. It is the farmers and miners who are doing it and then of course complaining about a lack of petrol. Farmers are saying they are merely stocking up. No. If that was occurring demand would not be strongly up ( which is very strange given the rise in prices). The government cannot tell the truth because we also know farmers are the salt of the earth and cannot be criticised.
RBA
The RBA will increase rates today. The only question is will it be 25 or 50 points. I suspect 25 points because surely the 'Iran war' cannot last. ( I am do not call me shirley again. flying high joke).
Definitions mean something
All those people who are part of the jewish lobby who argued for a stupid definition of anti-semitism (which included criticism of the Israeli government) are now arguing against a definition of islamophobia where they would find it hard to criticise islam or their version of it. no self awareness and no sense of irony.

Is Trump a Russian agent and other things US
We know Trump is not very intelligent (euphemism) but no-one could understand why he is so 'sympathetic' of Putin's positions. We can all recall his answer to Jonathan Lemaire where he trusted Putin over his own security advice on what russia did during the 2016. The senate produced an unanimous voluminous report which showed this chaired by none other than Marco Rubio.
We also know Trump selects people on loyalty and how they look on TV over competence however what are we to make of the complete lack of strategy on declaring war ( illegally) on Iran. Any bozo knows Iran would ensure few tankers would go through. They only have to threaten for insurance to dissolve yet no-one though of this. They now are pleading for help from other countries. This is war 101 yet Trump and Hesgeth were sop incompetent they did not think of this. what does Trump do withdraw the sanctions on russian oil and of course the oil price which Russia is consumed by rises dramatically. how can you declare war on a country and then rely on maps that are 10 years out od date!
If only Trump could think he would have gotten Western 'allies' on board and slowly increased oil reserves and planned for Iranian 'control ' of the strait of hormuz.
Russia has also assisted Iran in their use of drones and missiles through their intelligence. Yet again Trump trusts Putin and not his own intelligence services!
What trump doesn't seem to understand is they want to completely destroy their nuclear industry and control the strait of hormuz then ground troops will be needed!
While we are on this can someone explain to Trump the difference between an excursion and an incursion as he clearly has no idea.
Only a complete moron would blame the country invaded for a war they ncver wanted. Only a compromised person would give preference to a country they are at war with over a country trying to help overcoming Iran's drones.
The DOJ has lost about 8,000 people the FBI has also lost a lot of people so their intelligence against terrorism is very limited. That is what occurs when you ignore competence.
Noem has gone a truly incompetent pick but a bimbo nevertheless. This is bad for Bondi who has no cover now.
I might close this by merely stating When Trump won last time ( 2016) more by luck ( or should I say comey) and had complete authority. The people soon changed that at the midterms given how chaotic Trump was. He is even worse this time probably due to his cognitive deterioration.
It is very deepressing

USA and other things
Iran war
We still have incoherent talk about this war. Okay Trump is almost always incoherent, has little intellect and is patently in cognitive decline. Even so you would think the US government would have a consistent policy and everyone singing from the same hymn sheet. It could well be Trump's fault as he has the concentration of a cocker spaniel and therefore cannot ever deliver a consistent line.
Iran had aging aircraft, a poor navy and limited ballistic missiles and more importantly few place to launch them. Thus assertions Iran was about to attack other countries is utterly absurd more so because the IDF destroyed their defences.
Although the nuclear program was not obliterates as asserted, it was put years per\haps decades behind schedule.
Iy you want to change the regime and you know most of the population wants this you do not go about killing any Iranians.
Any rational person having a war with Iran would have a strategy on how to deal with the strait of hormuz otherwise petrol prices amongst other prices will rise substantially. Trump didn't indeed they told a minesweeper to go back home, duh!
Oh I should have added is Iram more likely or unlikely to promote terrorism against the USA now the USA has killed Iranians and the USA has boasted about it,
Oh Oh I should have also added Steve Witkoff is very incompetent. We know he lied about his meetings with Iranians and now he accepts russian lies they are not helping Iran with intelligence!
Noem sacked
Kristy Noem was always going to be a failure. Her administrative experience was limited and poor. Her political judgment even worse. Immigration was one of trump's best assets. It is now in large negative double digits. Noem would continue to hold press conferences in silly hats way too early and then not apologise when what she said was clearly and utterly wrong.
The problem is the punters never wanted mass deportation because unlike trump or miller most are not racists. Perhaps they realise the negative implication for the economy as well. Clearly they wanted the murders and rapists gone. Only problem was there were only few of the group. With ICE under pressure to arrest certain numbers of 'illegal' immigrants each week. They went to cities where you would not find many and had sweeps which is a lazy and inefficient way to get people. People are not stupid. how come few sweeps in Texas.
Neither Neom, Miller not Trump ever understood this. Noen took the blame.
DOJ
I am staggered that about 8,000 people have either resigned or been sacked in the DOJ. Courts no longer believe them in court. Halligan was found by a magistrate judge to have lied about the law which explains why Comey was indicted. Pirro caan not even indict a ham sandwich in fact she is lucky to indict anyone! She and Halligan are perfect examples of Trump's DOJ. Loyalty always outweighs competence.
mid-terms
I am convinced more than ever that voters will vote democrats in the mid-terms as they want to put some guard rails on Trump and it won't get better for Trump given his and his government's incompetence.

OZ Politics
David Littleproud
He resigned yesterday as leader of the National Party. He had only been leader since 2022. He resigned because he was 'buggered'.
Bollocks. He knew what he was getting into and he was only leader of the Nationals not Opposition leader.
I think he is extremely worried about One Nation and despite having the safest seat in Parliament he wants his 'free' time to campaign in his seat. Remember it is the Nationals who are vulnerable to one nation. He should still win the seat on ALP preferences at worst BUT you never know. He wasn't much of a leader. Leading the Nationals not once but twice from the coalition made him (and the coalition) look unstable and thus unelectable.
The people who want to be leader are unimpressive. Most have no farming background at all!
We shall see?
Whoopsy I forgot the obvious explanation. The Nationals lose seats to one nation, their vote drops a lot and he does not get the blame!!
update:
Canavan has won the leadership. I see this as the party seeing Canavan is best to battle against one nation. Only one problem he is a disaster for the coalition in winning back city seats.
Iranian football team
The government gave visa to all players who di not want to go back to Iran. This was sensible. Why they might want to deny other Iranians who have a temporary visa a right to visit Australia has not been explained. Really strange.
Panic buying
wow we panic buy. There are queues ,some country petrol stations have no fuel ( which aint the government's fault. It is private enterprise fellahs) and Bunnings is running out of gerry cans ! There is no supply problem only a price problem
ISIS Brides
These people are Australian citizens. They should be in Australia. IF they are a threat then charge them and stick them in gaol. I suspect they are not. ISIS fighter were notorious misogynists who almost always made any decisions moreover they were not very bright. Think of it another way how many mothers do you know who would be willing to give up their relationship with their children to attempt to kill anyone?

Hanson and hypocrisy in politics
Hypocrisy is bi-partisan and quite regular in politics anywhere.
For example in the USA you had veterans criticising Tim Waltz's record as a reservist blithely ignoring Trump made up excuses not to serve.
In Australia we had a flood of criticism about Julia Gillard. Her looks, her clothing , her intellect etc. how come there is little about Pauline Hanson.Let us be blunt. Hanson is not attractive ( euphemism), She is old and looks older. She is inarticulate and she is not very intelligent. Moreover she always has a svengali behind her.
Julie Bishop made on unfortunate slip as shadow treasurer and was dropped. Tim Wilson makes a larger error about tax and petrol and no-one notices.
Sorry but I can't think of any ALP examples except John Kerin being unlucky as treasurer as well.

Peter Martin
My old mate Peter Martin has a show on radio National called the economy stupid.
It is a good show. It is good because not only does Peter understand economics he is also a good journalist so he asks the right questions most of the time.
The topics are varied and interesting most of the time. The latest one examined how GDP is measured and what is should measure. The guests were another old mate Nicki Hutley and Dianne Coyle who readers should be aware of.
I have only a short time to write today but this program is only 30 minutes and well worth a listen.

Cream was the original super band. Like most they were over-rated.
This is easily the best song they did.
