Ironically I have little time over the holiday period
I love test cricket. It di not matter who was playing I simply liked to watch it. given we have Kayo at home I could watch almost any test match going on.
The problems of test cricket have been shown bigtime in Australia. At present there are only three counties that have half decent teams. Australia, India and England.
Australis mainly wins in Australia by adopting the old Indian method. Prepare a flat track and hope you win the toss and bat first. Post a massive total and then win if only because of psychological reasons. We di have finally some decent pitches last season for the Ashes but the poms were so bad it did not matter.
India are invincible at home because of their spinning pitches and their spinners. They decieve when overseas. They should have beaten SA 3-0 but lost 2-1 because their much vaunted batting lineup di not live up to their reputation. The same in the test against NZ at Lords.
England have com-letely turned around under Stokes's captaincy however the Ashes wil show jst how much later this year.
The rest of the nations playing test cricket cannot even do the basics right. Perhaps it has something to do with T20. It certainly appeared to be the case in the SA batting thus far. However why would you pick a clearly injured fast medium bowler and why would the best fast bowler start each spell with short balls that are easily hit for four.
Test cricket can only continue if the matches are competitive. Getting rid of flat tracks and the kookaburra ball are easy things to do but development takes time.
I fear test cricket's future.
