Yet another article on the relationship between fiscal austerity and the rise of the nazis.
A few points if I may.
If austerity works then Bruning would go down as the German Roosevelt. He didn't. ( He wasn't a great supporter of democracy).
The Nazis was essentially an asterisk in electoral terms until the Great Depression. fiscal austerity made them a large mainstream party. A magnificent advertisement for classical economics.
At least even Hayek recanted and even advocated increased public works spending!
Hitler was such a madman that if Germany did not achieve dominance then it did not deserve to stay a country. This is why they shot people who wanted to surrender in 1945.
