After the murderous killing spree by Hamas on October7 we hoped for a civilised response by Israel. We did not get one. Israel stated they would destroy Haams. They killed over 45,000 to achieve that. Instead Hamas has as many people as at October7. Imagine more Palestinians hating Israelis after that!
Revenge is unfortunately a bad part of human psyche. You can stop Hamas being the government of Gaza by eliminating funds if they are still there. However whom ever is governing will want revenge after the Israeli slaughter of palestinians.
Stopping all aid and thereby making starvation more likely merely exacerbates this.
What should Israel do?
Integrate their economy with the palestinian one. Enable the palestinian dream. Owning your own home and having a secure job or business is quite easily the best way to overcome terrorism and prevent revenge killings. This is because the cost becomes to great to bear.
Israel thus has scored a massive own goal. Hamas was very unpopular with palestinians because of the consequences of their murderous actions. Instead of playing this up Israel embarked on a strategy which was only going to sow revenge.
